Unleashing unique strengths developed from humble beginnings.

FirstGen Lab

FirstGen Lab is designed for first-generation students, whose parents did not receive higher education.

Recognizing the resilience fostered by humble beginnings, we support students with less privileged support systems, migrant backgrounds, or from rural areas, in breaking into high-opportunity industries.

Being the first in your family is tough

FirstGen Lab is for people who grew up without support systems that helped them navigate higher education and the business world. Those who didn't have anyone to ask all the small and big (and sometimes stupid) questions to.

Having to figure out everything yourself - what kind of jobs are out there, what proper business conduct looks like, what opportunities help you advance your career - takes up a lot of energy. You usually learn these things in hindsight (and once you've hit a few brick walls).

We help leveling the playing field

We want to forward what we have gathered over the years - networks, opportunities, and learnings (and self-esteem, if we're being honest).

Because we believe that coming from humble beginnings develops unique strengths and resilience that should be unleashed.

Why join the FirstGen Lab?

Get inspired

Learn what job fields are out there and hear from professionals that come from similar backgrounds who have paved their way in entrepreneurship, politics, technology, or civil society.

Get connected

Meet other first-generation students who navigate similar challenges like you. Who could better understand and cheer you on than them?

Get supported

We share what we have gathered - networks, opportunities, learnings. From the small things no one tells you when you start to the big decisions that shaped our paths.

Get mentored

We connect you with mentors from different fields who have walked in your shoes to support you beyond the program.
